Passion Or Prediction?

“Teach me passion, for I fear it’s gone…”

It is oh, so safe to live a life of mediocrity and resignation. Your course is charted by those who have gone before you, no deviation or wandering on your own will you seek. You feel a somnolent sense of security in knowing the outcome of every hour, of every day, of every year of your planned life. The only thing that is unknown to you is the fact that living life in this way is, in reality, its own kind of death. The prenatal death of a purpose you have revoked.

It’s a risk to be passionate. For to have passion, you must shatter the sphere of predictibility and “perfection” that you have, for a lifetime, been entombed within. Once you break through, you have no guarantees that all you’ll end up with won’t be just hands bloody with shards of glass. Oh, but if you succeed… Your life will have the most fulfilling joy that it has ever seen.

Passion goes beyond the bonds of security and misconception. It blazes through dim and sleepy halls covered with mementos of half-hearted deeds. The passionate one cannot feel at home anywhere else than with the truth. Once you have seen the flashing amber of this flame, your life-course is forever altered. You feel an urgent need to enter life, to be born into it anew.

Too many people have lived a life that is comparable to an unspectacular flicker. You were not meant for this life by dying. Live to the fullest. Live, take that risk, and discover your passion before it is gone.
